PAUL HARRIS SOCIETY

            Several years go California Rotary District 5340 originated the Paul Harris Society which is a new level of recognition for those donors who choose to give $1,000 or more each fiscal year to The Rotary Foundation. Annual Giving and Restricted Giving, but not Permanent Fund contributions, qualify donors for The Paul Harris Society and also Paul Harris Fellowship credit. Society members proudly wear their PHS lapel banner and receive special recognition during special district Rotary Foundation events.

            With ever increasing involvement of our clubs in The Rotary Foundation programs, the need to increase our contributions is apparent. The Rotary Foundation helps provide major fuel for our participation in programs such as Matching Grants, Vocational Service Teams (in non Future Vision districts this is Group Study Exchange), other grants and scholarships.

            Remember: For every dollar that is contributed to the Annual Programs Fund in The Rotary Foundation, $0.50 comes back to the district to assist us with grants and scholarships.

In District 5440 we have an increasing number of Rotarians who are supporting our Rotary Foundation and the district through their membership in the Paul Harris Society. Annual reminders are sent so that no one misses their timeline or the opportunity to get their tax deductible receipt from The Rotary Foundation in a timely manner.

WHITE HAT SOCIETY

The   White Hat Society is not a formal or recognized program of The Rotary Foundation. Rather, it is an effort that arose at a Rotary Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona in 2004 to promote significant giving in another way to The Rotary Foundation.

            Following are the "duties" of membership in the White Hat Society:

  • Donate $5,000 to The Rotary Foundation in any one Rotary year;

  • Recruit one other Rotarian to do the same;

  • Make contributions directly to The Rotary Foundation;

  • The donor indicates the program or fund to which the donation should be applied;

  • Annual contributions are not required; however, each additional $5,000 donation will result in another concho on the White Hat pin.

Donations may take the form of cash, credit card, stock or other capital assets, or irrevocable insurance policies made to the Bequest Society.

A donation of $25,000 or greater merits a Lifetime Award.

For information or to join the White Hat Society, contact PDG Nancy Pettus at WandNPettus@aol.com or 307 733-4904. Recognition items will be either mailed or presented at a specified event.
