* Definition of Contribution Categories:

Major Donors; Gift(s) of US $ 10,000 or more contributed by an individual or a couple.


Bequest Socitey; An individual or a couple who places the Permanent Fund in his, her, or their estate plan for US $ 10,000 or more and notifies the society.


Benefactor; Written notification that a donor has made a provision in his or her will or other estate plan naming the Foundation's Permanent Fund as a beneficiary; or anyone who makes an outright gift of US $ 1,000 or more to the Foundations Permanent Fund.


Paul Harris Fellow; Gifts of US $ 1,000 or more to the Annual Programs Fund or restricted funds from a donor or combination of donors. Can be multiple PH Fellows.

**Definition of Award Categories:

3-H Grants; These are large scale, two to four year projects, that enhance health, help alleviate hunger or improve human developmemt. The top amount is $300,000 and the sponsoring club(s) must provide 10% or more of the amount and the club(s) must have carried out a Matching Grant with a club in the host project country.

Matching Grants; Matching Grants provide matching funds, from the Foundation and the District, for international service projects of Rotary Clubs and districts. There must be a partnership with a Rotary Club in the project country. Grants are usually for $25,000 or less. Larger projects take longer to obtain approval.


District Simplified Grants;These grants support short-term service activities or humanitarian endeavors of districts in communities locally or internationally.


Individual Grants; These grants support travel of individual Rotarians, spouces of Rotarians, Rotaractors & qualified Foundatin alumni who are planning or implementing service projects. In Oct. 2005, the program was replaced by Volunteer Service Grants.


World Peace Fellowships;Each year up to 60 scholars are sponsored to study at one of the six Rotary Centers for a master's degree.


Ambassadorial Scholarships; The Foundation sponsors one of the largest international scholarship programs in the world. Scholars study in a country other than their own where they serve as unofficial ambassadors of good will.


Group Study Exchange (GSE); These annual awards are made to paired Rotary Districts to provide travel expenses for a team of non-Rotarians from a variety of professions, led by a Rotarian. Rotarian hosts organize a four to six week itinerary of vocational, educational and cultural points of interest.
