Statement about Scott
AP History and US History teacher at Preston Jr. High School, was nominated by the Breakfast Club. Scott's commitment towards excellence in his lessons and the learning experiences of his students is a model for other teachers to follow. Scott was an early adapter of computer and network technology and over the years has effectively leveraged these resources to greatly advance the learning opportunities for his students. Students can even download lectures on MP3! He has a powerful way of connecting students to curriculum. For nearly 25 years, Scott has organized and assisted with a PSD trip for junior high students to Washington, DC. This incredible trip has provided opportunities for hundreds of students and staff alike to learn about history. His "living history" program provides a tremendous service to students and the community, keeping the service of our nation's veterans in the forefront and helping students understand the sacrifices these men and women have made to keep our nation strong. Scott spends countless hours outside of school helping his students during online study sessions and thoroughly enjoys the experience. No matter how high Scott raises the academic bar in his classrooms, his students will jump to meet it. |
